One for the Money...Two for the Show...

First grade students at James Giles school in Norridge have been very busy learning about money. Not only can Rooms 104, 105, and 110 count various coins, they can also provide you with a little information about banks and how they operate. First grade students received a visit from Mr. Michael O'Rourke who is the president of Signature Bank and his Employee Mrs. Kelly Burns. Their visit included a brief talk about the purpose and function of the bank as well as the importance of saving money. Students were given an educational coloring book filled with play money and practical exercises to reinforce previously taught concepts. Students who have an October birthday like Mr. O'Rourke were given a gold one dollar coin. Mrs. Burns was kind enough to order gold coins for all of the first grade students and teachers. Thank you Mrs. Burns, our coins will be placed in a safe spot. Thank you to Signature Bank, Mr. O'Rourke and Mrs. Burns. First grade loved your visit.
